Alpha Phi Delta Cares

In 2018, the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation established the APD Cares program, it's fourth focused endowment aimed at providing grants to alumni, undergraduate brothers and their families in financial need due to presidentially declared disasters or emergencies.

When Hurricane Sandy hit New York in 2012 many brothers got together on an ad hoc basis to provide financial support for fellow brothers in serious need. While this was admirable, it was a significant one-time effort and certainly did not address all brothers who were just as worthy, and in need of help.  Inspired by the stories of brothers who lost homes and property from Hurricane's Irma and Sandy, this program was launched.  The APD Cares fund exemplifies Alpha Phi Delta's ideals of permanent activity and support - brothers helping brothers.

Our first grant under this endowment was issued to brother Tim Virgilio, Delta Iota - 1992.  His home in Florida was completely flooded by Category 4,  Hurricane Eta.  The foundation was pleased to provide him with a $4,000 grant to assist him in his time of need and help covered uninsured expenses.   During the Covid-19 pandemic the Foundation issued $26,500 to support brothers and their families who tragically lost their lives to the coronavirus.

Through June 2024, we have issued $44,500 in grants since the program inception to support brothers in need.  Special thanks to the 220+ brothers that have donated to this cause to make this fund possible.
