This scholarship was established by Joe Creston with a contribution to the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation of $10,000 in 2000, and he continued growing the fund in the years to come to support brothers of Alpha Phi Delta and their family members.
Joe Creston was the 34th National President of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. Joe was a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and after graduating high school entered the United States Navy during the second World War. He served his country for ten years including active duty and Naval Reserves. After returning from active duty, Joe enrolled at Duquesne University where he was inducted into Alpha Phi Delta on December 7, 1949. He graduated from Duquesne with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Joe was an active member since his induction and served the Fraternity in many capacities. Joe’s Alpha Phi Delta activities included:
President of the Pittsburgh Alumni Club
Western Pennsylvania District Governor
Cofounder and Godfather of Gamma Delta Chapter at Waynesburg College
APD Constitution Restructuring Committee member
Alpha Phi Delta Foundation Scholarship Trustee
National Chaplain
National President from 1976-1978
In 2006, Joe received the Fraternity's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Joe married Josie Mustari, and they had three children: Jan, Linda, and Dan, and four grandchildren: Michelle, Thomas, David, and Dana.
Brother Creston passed away on August 11, 2022.
