The brothers, friends, and family of Adam DiVincenzo, beloved Past National President and National Secretary, established this award in his memory with support from the Pittsburgh Alumni Club following his passing in 1994.
Adam DiVincenzo graduated from Duquesne University with a B.S. in Education in 1934. Known for his dedication and energy, Adam was involved in 17 extracurricular activities during college while working nights to pay for his tuition. He served as President of the Interfraternity Council, the Student Senate, and his own Psi chapter. During World War II, he was active in fundraising efforts, earning a Silver Medal from the Treasury Department and membership in the exclusive Thousand Club.
Adam also served as National Secretary of the Italian Sons and Daughters, Executive Secretary for the Duquesne University Alumni Association, and was involved in Kiwanis International. A lifelong member of Alpha Phi Delta, he served as Fifth District Governor from 1947 to 1952, National President from 1952 to 1953, and as National Secretary from 1960 to 1978.
Known for his tireless dedication, he was affectionately called “Mr. Alpha Phi Delta” by his fellow brothers.
In 1985, he was honored with the Fraternity’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Adam and his wife Mary were regular attendees at National conventions until the late 1980s, and together they raised one daughter. Brother DiVincenzo passed away on February 14, 1994, at the age of 84, leaving a legacy of devotion and service that continues to inspire.
