This scholarship is set up in loving memory of Mary Jean Pizza, the late wife of brother Robert (R.J.) Hartman. On April 5, 2022, the world bid farewell to Mary Jean, leaving a void that can never be filled. This scholarship was established to carry Mary Jean's legacy forward and honor her. Throughout her life, Mary Jean was a source of joy, kindness, and unwavering love. Her remarkable presence brought warmth to the hearts of everyone she encountered, and her witty humor brightened even the darkest of moments. 

She had a deep and meaningful connection with her husband, R.J. Hartman, where they shared their hopes, dreams, and lighthearted moments together. In the community, Mary Jean was known for her selfless acts of kindness and generosity. Her compassion knew no limits, as she dedicated herself to various charitable endeavors, always striving to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Mary Jean's willingness to lend a helping hand, to listen with a compassionate ear, and to offer solace during difficult times was a testament to her steadfast character.

While she did not have children of her own, she formed deep connections with her extended family, friends, and children of friends, always treating them with the same love and care as if they were her own.
